LOCATION 10° - 54` - 10.3` N / 84° - 46` 39.1` W
These amazing wetlands are located in the North-North zone of Costa Rica, 25 km south of the
community of Los Chiles (border with Nicaragua) in Alajuela province. Caņo Negro Wildlife Refuge is
formed mainly by Caņo Negro Lake and Frio River that gives its origin. It has an area of 10,000 has. It is
one of the most important biological areas of the country (RAMSAR site, 4th in the world).
DESCRIPTION
Caņo Negro Wetlands Lodge is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and the lagoon, having direct
access in rainy season to all the channels and lagoons of the refuge.
We have 7 chalets wood construction with deck and hammocks, rustic furniture, fan, private bath and hot
water swimming pool front. Also we have a palm tree construction (Palapa) with bar & BBQ and TV area.
In the main building there is another bar and restaurant and two rooms. At this time we have 9 rooms one
of those is a special room for handicap people.
